The right products depend on your specific needs for mitigating water damage. We offer:

  • Scouts: Water leak/presence sensors for attics, basements, and water appliance locations. Scouts work independently or in conjunction with Monitor or Control.
  • Monitor: An easy-to-install (DIY, no tools required) device that identifies potential leaks before they cause costly damage—installation takes just 5 minutes.
  • StreamLabs Control: Our flagship product provides end-to-end protection with auto-shutoff capability for peace of mind.

Our products allow you to monitor leak alerts, water usage, humidity, and temperature conveniently through one app.

Depending on where the main water line branches inside your home, The StreamLabs Monitor is capable of monitoring outdoor water usage (for example: your garden hose, sprinkler system, pool, etc.).

The Monitor will report your outdoor water usage as long as the Monitor is installed on the main water line inside your home before any branch that supplies outdoor systems.  If the StreamLabs Monitor is installed after branch lines to outdoor plumbing, or if the outdoor system is supplied directly from a different water line than the one that comes in to your home, you will not be able to monitor those outdoor systems.  This same concept applies to any other outdoor plumbing as well.

If you are still unsure if your outdoor plumbing will be seen by the Monitor, you can check with two easy steps. 1) After installing the Monitor, run water inside the home. If your app catches the usage, turn the water off. 2) Run the outdoor plumbing. If the Monitor catches the usage, you're good to go! Otherwise, the split either happened before the property or you are installed after the split in the home.

Yes—StreamLabs devices connect to the StreamLabs app via Wi-Fi and are compatible with 2.4GHz networks (not 5 GHz). StreamLabsWater+1

StreamLabs products can only operate on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks. They are also only compatible with Open, WEP, or WPA/WPA2-Personal networks.

Devices keep monitoring and buffer about 3 hours of data and upload it once Wi-Fi returns. The Control will still auto-shut your water off on a detected leak if Auto-Shut is enabled, even without Wi-Fi; you just won’t see live data or remote valve control until it’s back online.

StreamLabs App

A leak alert will come as a push notification on your smartphone and will notify you if the Monitor/Control detects a possible leak. These alerts can also be found in the Leak Alerts History section in the StreamLabs App.

Type of leak alerts:

  • Slow Leak
  • Major Leak
  • Away Mode Leak
  • Smart Alerts
  • Room Temperature Alerts
  • and more

Learn more about alerts here.

You get push notifications for leaks; with StreamPlus you can also receive email and text messages. “Smart Alerts”/learning mode flags unusual usage after learning your normal patterns, and you can set Home/Away behavior (alert on any flow when away).

The StreamLabs App is compatible with iOS 13.0 and higher and Android 11 or higher.

Your StreamLabs device will continue to monitor your water usage, even when it disconnects from Wi-Fi. Your device will store a rolling 3 hours worth of data, and send that information to the StreamLabs App once your device reconnects to Wi-Fi.

Data Security FAQ

The StreamLabs Smart Home Water Monitor is the world's first consumer-facing, non-invasive, whole-home water meter monitoring system. Using ultrasound technology, the Monitor can determine the flow of water duration and intensity inside of a compatible pipe. Similarly, the StreamLabs Control also utilizes ultrasound technology to determine flow rate and help detect leaks, and provides an automatic shut-off valve.  Both devices report this information to our cloud service via Wi-Fi.

All water usage data is stored on StreamLabs' secure cloud servers hosted by Amazon Web Services. Data is encrypted and sent directly to the cloud from the Monitor/Control via Wi-Fi, and then securely accessed and viewed directly on the users' phone(s) or tablet(s) from the cloud when the StreamLabs app is opened or refreshed via the internet.

StreamLabs stores user data for a maximum of two years. This provides sufficient user data for the app to perform its historic comparison statistics for the most current year and the year immediately previous.

All of the water usage and alert data that the StreamLabs Monitor or Control collects is only viewable in the StreamLabs app, which is available for use on iOS and Android smart phones and tablets. Data can be also be accessed externally by third-party software through the StreamLabs API. The StreamLabs API can be accessed via Basic authentication with an API Key or with an OAuth 2.0 client, both with TLS 1.2 encryption.

For more information on API access, please visit this link: developer.streamlabswater.com.

Each StreamLabs device can only be paired to one StreamLabs account. That means that the only people who can access your water usage data are those who know your StreamLabs username and password, and are logged into the same account that the Monitor is paired to.

The StreamLabs Control and Monitor communicate to our servers with MQTT over a mutually authenticated TLS layer. They also download firmware signed firmware updates over HTTPS.
