Most customers self-install Scouts and Monitors. For Controls, we recommend professional installation and can connect you with an installer based on your location. Our authorized installation partner is ALD (American Leak Detection). For more information about installation in your area click here
All StreamLabs products help you reduce water damage risk with ultrasonic leak detection and real-time alerts. Choose based on how much coverage and control you want:
StreamLabs Scout: A Wi‑Fi, point‑of‑leak sensor for targeted areas (under sinks, near water heaters, in basements/attics).
StreamLabs Monitor: A DIY (Do It Yourself), no‑tools, clamp‑on device that attaches to your existing pipe in minutes. Ideal for whole‑home monitoring without shutoff.
StreamLabs Control: An in‑line smart shutoff valve installed on your main water line.
All products connect to the StreamLabs app for unified alerts and insights on leaks, water usage, temperature, and humidity.
If your Wi-Fi goes down, your StreamLabs devices will continue to monitor for issues and will buffer about three hours of data, which will be uploaded once the Wi-Fi connection is restored. If you have enabled auto-close (Auto-Shut), your Control will still automatically shut off your water if it detects a potential issue, even without Wi-Fi.
However, you will not receive alerts, see live data, or be able to open or close the valve remotely from the app until your device is back online. If you need to change the status of the valve while Wi-Fi is out, you can use the physical buttons on top of the device to open or close the valve until the Wi-Fi connection is restored.
You’ll receive push notifications on your smartphone whenever the StreamLabs Monitor, Scout, or Control detects a possible leak or unusual water usage. With StreamPlus, you can also opt to receive email and text message alerts. All alerts are stored in the Leak Alerts History section of the StreamLabs App.
Types of alerts include:
You can customize alert settings, including Home/Away behavior, to ensure you’re notified in the way that works best for you. Learn more about alerts here.
The StreamLabs App is compatible with iOS 13.0 and higher and Android 11 or higher.
Yes, StreamLabs products currently work with Google Home. Integration with other smart home platforms—including Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and others—is in progress and will be available in the future.
StreamLabs devices measure your water usage using advanced ultrasound technology. Both the StreamLabs Smart Home Water Monitor and StreamLabs Control are non-invasive, whole-home systems that determine the flow rate, duration, and intensity of water inside compatible pipes. They also help detect leaks and, with the Control, provide an automatic shut-off valve. All water usage data is reported to our cloud service via Wi-Fi, allowing you to monitor and manage your water consumption in real time.
All water usage data is stored on StreamLabs' secure cloud servers hosted by Amazon Web Services. Data is encrypted and sent directly to the cloud from the Monitor/Control via Wi-Fi, and then securely accessed and viewed directly on the users' phone(s) or tablet(s) from the cloud when the StreamLabs app is opened or refreshed via the internet.
StreamLabs stores user data for a maximum of two years. This provides sufficient user data for the app to perform its historic comparison statistics for the most current year and the year immediately previous.
All of the water usage and alert data that the StreamLabs collects is only viewable in the app, which is available for use on iOS and Android smart phones and tablets.

Each StreamLabs device can only be paired with one StreamLabs account. This means that only individuals who have your StreamLabs username and password and are logged into the same account can access your water usage data.
For security, StreamLabs devices communicate with our servers using MQTT over a mutually authenticated TLS layer, and they download signed firmware updates over HTTPS.
